There is nothing quite like the feeling of starting a new school year. New school supplies, new teacher, and new friends; all of these changes can feel scary and exciting all at once. With all of the new changes, it can feel hard to stay organized and focused on the tasks at hand. However, with these three tips below, you will be able to start the year off right!

  1. Plan Ahead: Planning ahead of time is one of the best ways to ensure that upcoming activities or tasks will run smoothly. Though it may feel daunting and overwhelming, planning ahead will set you up for success for the next day (or week) by helping you stay organized and on top of the tasks at hand. Planning ahead can include anything from picking out your clothes for the next day so you have one less stressor in the morning, to writing out a list of assignments that need to get done for the week so you don’t forget anything on your “to do” list. Planning ahead will help keep you organized, accountable, and successful!

  1. Create a Routine: Creating a routine can help you develop healthy habits in your every day life. Routines help us develop a sense of structure, can help to reduce stress by allowing your decision making to be minimized on a daily basis, and can help maintain a healthy lifestyle by including movement in your everyday. Routines will also help some of those bigger tasks (like exercising or cleaning) feel a little bit smaller as they will not feel like a chore. Routines can be very helpful in order to maintain structure on those days that feel like there is none!

  1. Keep it Simple: With all the planning and organizing for a new school year, sometimes we can get caught up in the hustle and bustle of it all. When making your schedule or routine remember to keep it simple! An example of keeping it simple would be for when shopping for school supplies. You can keep it simple by color coding your classes so that you can associate one color with one class. This is a great way to keep your locker simplified and to help remember what you need to grab quickly.
