Drink at least 8 cups of water a day. Staying hydrated can keep sugar cravings at bay and curb hunger

 

Keep sugar consumption in check. Over consumption of sugar can lead to sweet cravings and lower your immune system.

 

Focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients. People who eat plant-based diets have stronger immune systems and tend to get sick less in the winter. In addition, plant-based diets are high in fiber. The benefits of fiber are many and include a regulated digestive system, feeling full longer, and stable blood sugar levels.

 

Be present. When we eat mindfully we can tune in to what our body needs and stop when our body has had enough. Try pausing when eating. Put your fork down. Take a few deep breaths, count to 10. Check in with yourself and see if you are still hungry.

 

Have gratitude. Focusing on the good in our lives creates a positive mood. Studies show a regular gratitude practice (i.e. a gratitude journal) can significantly increase happiness.

 

Move! Get up, get out and get active. Have a family dance party. Be creative and have fun. Exercise does not have to only be in a gym. The benefits are many. Try it, you will see.
